ABOUT

Mike Nolan is a classically-trained musician based in Central Scotland with over forty years experience as a performer, composer and musical director. He has composed and improvised for silent film since 1994, including appearances at Hippfest (Bo’ness), Il Cinema Ritrovato (Bologna), Edinburgh International Film Festival, Edinburgh Filmhouse and Glasgow Film Theatre, as well as for several commercial DVD releases for Panamint and the Scottish Film Archive (now the National Library of Scotland). As an accompanist and musical director, he has worked with Scottish Ballet, Theatre Workshop (Scotland), Craigmillar Festival Society and Edinburgh Light Opera, among many others.

In 2007, he added an MSc. In music therapy to his skill set and has worked in this capacity with individuals and small groups, both as a freelancer and for music therapy agents Nordoff & Robbins, Camphill Scotland, Spiral Arts Therapies and music in health collective Common Wheel, Glasgow. 

He is the keyboardist for five-piece Band A., whose recent live outings, performing the music of legendary Scottish duo The Associates met with national acclaim. As Sacred Angels, the band released the single 'Peace at Christmastime’ in 2022. 

Mike is also an accomplished organist, playing for two churches in his home town of Dunblane and is available to curate and play music for weddings, funerals and functions across the UK.
